With a highly qualified and experienced workforce we utilize some of the most advanced NDT methods and reporting programs available.

Relay specialist inspection teams in UK and Middle East are qualified to carry out the following conventional NDT methods in accordance with BSI or ASME standards:

Magnetic Particle Inspection

Relay provides MPI using a wide variety of hand-held yokes, prods and cables to create both direct current and alternative current magnetisation methods - dry powder; wet visible; wet fluorescent.

Dye Penetrant Testing

Relay provides all types and methods of liquid penetrant inspection including type 1 - fluorescent and type 2 visible penetrant and water washable and solvent removable test methods.

 Ultrasonic Testing

Relay offers UT which has a wide range of applications from thin sheet steel through to large cast components - utilizing high frequency mechanical energy in the form of sound waves and it can be used to detect internal, hidden discontinuities.

Visual Inspection

Relay officer Visual inspection methods which allow detection of discontinuities, deviations of the size and shape from the specified ones for more than 0.1 mm when using instruments with magnification up to 10x.

Radiography Testing

Relay offers RT which can penetrate wide ranges of material with varying densities to detect internal defects in weld quality; evaluate castings for fabrication flaws or foreign objects; and detect damage in composites.

Positive Material Identification

Relay offers this positive material identification which can be performed on a wide range of components and assets and provides a semi-quantitative chemical analysis.

Hardness Testing

Relay can provide hardness testing of materials using the most commonly used testing methods; Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell. In addition to this we can offer portable solutions through the dynamic Leeb hardness testing method that is subsequently displayed in all common hardness scales.

Painting and Coating Inspection

Relay provides coating and paint inspection services. We can assist with inspecting existing coating systems, ensuring the integrity of a coating system and as such ensuring the integrity of the plant and equipment.

Phased Array Inspections

Relay offers this advanced method of ultrasonic testing which can be used for a wide variety of different inspection activities. The technique detects flaws that cannot be easily found with conventional non-destructive testing methods such as radiography and manual ultrasonic testing.

Computerized & Digital Radiography

Relay offers both CR & DR.  CR allows a wider latitude to enable a greater thickness range to be captured on one exposure and the electronic sharing of images and easier storage.  DR inspection techniques deliver faster, safer and more detailed inspection data than conventional radiography. 

Small Controlled Area Radiography

Through SCAR technology, we can continue to provide high quality inspection services while minimizing the impact on the surrounding environment as it significantly reduces radiation risk and eliminates the need to evacuate the work area, reducing a client’s operational downtime.

Eddy Current Inspection

Relay offers ECI which is typically used to detect surface and near surface flaws in conductive materials.  The equipment is portable and can provide immediate results, requiring minimal surface preparation (surface paint and coating is not required to be removed.
